DIY Diaper Cake

Tis' the season for baby showers around the Villalpando family and friends. I have many baby showers to attend in the next couple weeks before the arrive of my bundle of joy makes his or her apperance in this world. So I thought I would make a diaper cake for one special mommy-to-be. I get alot of invitations for showers asking you to bring diapers to be entered in a raffle to win a prize. Such fun more diapers for the mommy!! So instead of just bring a package of diapers I thought I would make a cute diaper cake. They are so easy to make! Diaper cakes are also great to make if you are a host of a shower and want to add some decor to the party. Here is how I  made mine....
Materials Needed:
Diapers ( I used Target brand size 2)
Fabric or ribbon of your choice
Decorative flower
Cake board
Cake pans
Push pins (to pin fabric to diapers around cake)
1. Pick the brand of diapers you like in size 2 and if you want a package of newborns for the top layer. ( you only use a few so you can save the rest for other cakes in the future).  In this picture I used all size 2 diapers cause I did not have any newborn. Which makes for a smaller cake.
2. Get out 3 cake pans of your choice (I used a 10, 8, 6 pans) as if you were baking a tiered cake.
3. Place the diapers in each cake in a swirl pattern shown in picture (placing diapers next to one another all the way around the pan or roll each one individually.
4. Once your done take it out a little bit and place rubberband around that layer. Continue to make the other two.
5. I had some left over fabric from another diaper cake I made so I used it to wrap around the cake and pin it to back with push pins. You can also use some cute ribbon.
6. Find a cute decorative flower to add a little touch to it. I have also pinned cute shoes to the top as well. ( I don't like to add much to it cause its adorable the way it is) Keep it simple and classy without cluttering it up with baby items is the way to go!!!!
7. Place on a cake board
8. And Your Done!!!!
How adorable is this diaper cake!!!!

Thought I throw in a couple PREGO pics just a reminder to myself that my baby shower is this Saturday and I'm that much closer to having this bundle of joy. And even better I get to find out what I'm having at my shower. Pictures to come!!!!!

A Girl's Spring Colors 1st Communion

Last weekend my hubby's little sisters did there First Communion. We decided on spring colors for the theme of the party. I wanted to get the girls a beautiful tiered cake to match the theme. I am such a fan of having big beautiful tiered cakes at any party. I think it adds so much to dessert table and plus with our parties we need enough to feed 50 to 100 people and this cake did just that. I also made dipped pretzels and rice krispies favors for them to hand out to guests.

These are the pretzels and rice kripies I made for the party. Please excuse the text "girls baptism" I meant 1st Communion silly me!! I'm such a fan of having food as a favosr cause you know your guest will eat it. I often get favors of figurines of such and most of the time they end up in the trash sad I know.
For these favors I did the same and dipped them in chocolate using pink and yellow chocolate melts. I used pink and purple sprinkles to add a little touch to them. I bagged each one indivdually and tied it with a white ribbon. To make it more fancy I usually go on etsy and get printables to punch out that are targeted toward the theme. These tags I was able to add there name. I found them fairly cheap on etsy. They also offer lots of free printables on Pinterest that you can use as well. I placed them in a cute basket and displayed them at the party for guest to take one.

Tiffany & Co. Graduation Party

Over the holiday weekend one of my best friends Jackie graduated from Law School. We wanted to throw her an elegant Tiffany & Co. theme party for her special day. Her family rented a beautiful hall and my job was to make Tiffany blue dipped pretzels and rice krispies. I get asked a lot to make these!! I enjoy making them cause they are really simple to make and add to any dessert table.

Here is what I do:
Chocolate Dipped Pretzels:
1. I buy stick pretzels at your local grocery store
2. buy candy melts your choice of color either at Michaels, cake store, Hobby Lobby
3. melt the chocolate in the microwave with a little vegetable oil
4. microwave in elements of 30 to 45 seconds cause you do not want to burn it
5. dip your pretzel in the melted chocolate and place on wax paper to dry
6. once there dry melt another color of chocolate, I used white and drizzle over the pretzel
5. to drizzle the white chocolate I placed the melted chocolate in a plastic ziploc bag and cut the little corner. You can also use a squeeze bottle. I rather use a plastic ziploc bag so I can throw it away right after. It can get messy!!!
Rice Krispies:
1. make your favorite rice krispes and put them in a large cookie sheet so they will be thinner and you can cut them in squares and get more out of them for a party
2. melt your choice of chocolate place in a plastic ziploc bag cut the corner of how big you want hole and drizzle on top of rice krispies. You can also drizzle different colors as well instead of doing one like I did.
4. Rice Krispie recipe coming soon....I make the best rice krispies!!!!

Thought I throw in another prego picture of me and my best friend Jackie. Love her to pieces and so glad we got to spend this speical day with her. Such an accomplishment!!!

These past 8 months have been such a rollarcoaster and beyond busy in our lives that I knew it was time for some much need pictures done of our family. I been loving the whole rustic look that is just taking off everywhere so I knew I wanted to take picutres of the girls in like an outdoor field type of area. My mom got these adorable dresses from etsy and what more to fit with the style of pictures were some cute brown cowboys boots. When I saw this picture of my girls I feel in love it just melted my heart.
Just look how good these girls do in pictures and like my hubby always says its probably due to my obsession of taking pictures of these 2 since they were both born and yeah he probably is so right. I feel like I can't miss anything!!!
As you scroll down thru the pictures you will notice something funny about myself....Let me just tell you guys if you already didn't know "I'M PREGNANT"  yep thats right I am officially 32 weeks prego and counting down the days until the arrival of my little one.
So I wanted to do maternity pictures as well as family ones being the last of just the 4 of us. I just can't believe it in about 5 to 6 weeks we will be having another little one coming into our lives. We are truly blessed and looking forward to making more memories and watching our family grow....
Hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I did (maybe not the ones of myself but my girls and hubby love)
